The Official Community Plan – Land Use Bylaw (OCP-LUB) review process is now approaching a critical juncture. Next month, a consultant will begin community engagement.
The application is out for a Project Advisory Planning Commission for this project. We need as many people as possible to apply. This committee will influence whether we have meaningful discussion of growth and sustainability, or a series of meaningless open houses.
The committee may make recommendations either to allow accessory units across the island to supposedly provide housing through the private market or have rezoning targeted for new housing around Ganges with affordability guarantees.
Our priority is: Maintaining the current OCP growth limits that allow rezoning for increases in density only for affordable housing and targeted to the Ganges area where there is water and sewage treatment plant connections.
Below is the Driftwood ad and here is the downloadable application form.
Please let us know if you can apply. The Local Trust Committee is unlikely to appoint those of us who have been outspoken on this issue. Contact us with questions and assistance in filling out the application.
