This year Salt Spring Island’s Trustees intend to make major “targeted” changes to our Official Community Plan (OCP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB). Salt Spring Solutions and the Housing Action Task force have recommended increasing zoning density to address the housing crisis.
This is being pushed ahead without meaningful and inclusive community consultation regarding the long-term consequences and with no emphasis on environmental protection as required by the Islands Trust Act. Read more about our concerns and sign our petition asking for inclusive public consultation and protecting the development limits in our current Official Community Plan.
